Default GW:Factions Preview weekend key is available now

On the official website! And there is a FAQ section. Apparently current account holders don't need the key to access this event.

Please read the Factions Information and Details stickied at the top of this forum for answers to questions and to clear up misconceptions.

While there will not be an additional slot you can still create another account to participate in the event.

I got this from Factions PvP event FAQ's in guildwars website

Oh, and players may want to pay close attention to the game world in the days preceding the event; things are changing in many interesting ways.

I wonder what that means? Any guesses, eh?

Default bummed

I was actually pretty bummed by this announcement, because from what i can infer from the information i have read, is that anybody with 4 PvE characters will not be able to use the skills they unlock using a ritualist and assassin, in chapter 2 when it comes out. What i mean is, I have my 4 character slots full with PvE characters that i do not want to delete. Its great that i can make a free account and play with the assassin and ritualist, but with this free account i will have to unlock any skills i may want to use in my secondary proffession again. I also do not benefit from the time i put in when using this free account , as i will add chapter 2 onto my first account, anybody with a pvp slot will keep any skills that they unlock with Rit or Ass for use when chap 2 comes out properly. I just wanna hear your feelings on this and find out if anybody else is thinking the same as me.

Thanks,
-THE M-

so let me get this straight, i can use my forth char slot that i use for pvp to gain access to these new arenas and skills and then they will save on my normal, pre-they-giving-you-a-code-for-a-new-account... account?

That is correct.

Let me explain the workings.

1) When it is time for the event - Our world will be updated to fit Chapter 2 details.

2) That means they'll put the arenas on Battle Isle - add assas/ritual classes, and temporarily make us able to use them like normal in PvP (we can roll assas/ritualist characters for that weekend). This is what was meant by "look for changes in the days before the event".

3) You can play these from your normal account (All it is a huge GW update - nothing special).

4) The Free Accounts are for the people that don't already own GW. This gives them a means by which to play the game without having to have a "real" GW key.

Now to the complainer - Why did you feel your slots with PvE? you ALWAYS have atleast one PvP character man...Do you just not PvP at all? and if so..this event should mean nothing to you.

somehow I doubt that the skills will be difficult to unlock through pve anyway

I will not be running out and wasting my faction on the skills :\

I prefer unlocking as many as possible through PvE.

I'll read through them though.

I can't speak for the guy, but this is my take on that: I actually PvE and PvP and use my PvE characters to PvP. Shocking yes I know... but since I mostly play Rangers and Monks it's really not that limiting. My other two characters are a Mesmer and then a Necro. I've played Warriors and Elementalists before but don't have much interest in playing them now...

So yeah I have all my slots filled up and no extra one to try out the upcoming weekend without deleting a character (which I won't do) so I'll have to make a separate account. No big deal but a bit disappointing...

I dont understand how people can grind through the game with 4 pve chars. After all this is a PVP heavy game PVE is kinda a bonus IMO.

actually it is just the opposite.

before yelling actually take a look around you and compare the amount of work done that is not pvp related at all.

PRESEAR alone dwarfs the pvp arenas and the PVE characters can go anywhere while the pvp are locked in their little sandboxes while the rest of us have the huge playground to roam

PVP=SANDBOXES (SMALL)

PVE=PLAYGROUND (BIG)

now yell

oh yea 2 accounts all PVE

does that make me a PVErt?

I don't understand how people can't understand that some people enjoy different things than themselves. Unless they grew up in a totalitarian society or somesuch.

You forget that before faction (Not talking about Chapter 2) was implemented into the game, PvP players had to grind through PvE to get their skills. And that's what I did and that's why I have 4 PVE characters. I had 1 slot for PvP but I didnt need it since my PvE Monk and Ranger characters were all I used for PvP anyway.

So please stow your judgemental biases somewhere else. Like it or not, this is a PVE AND PVE game.
